We left Wanaka and headed to Queenstown, where we spent 3 days. The journey goes by way of the Crown Range summit, pictured below. It’s the highest sealed road in New Zealand, at 1076 metres above sea level; as you can see from the photo, it’s so high that it’s obscured by cloud! Visibility was pretty average when driving through the cloud, and I really wish we had a manual rental car for all these mountain roads.

NZ Trip Day 3-4
We started day three in Fox Glacier, waking up at 5am to get to Lake Matheson before sunrise. Without a torch, and with fog all around, it was a bit hard to see where the walking track was. After a while the fog started to lift and we started the 30 minute hike to the other side of the lake.

We got up early on Friday morning, as we had to be at the airport by 5:45 am. Not long after taking off, I discovered that I was already talking in a Kiwi accent, and adding “bro” and “ay” after every sentence. It hasn’t stopped since.
