Dan made the suggestion tonight that we go and try our hand at some star trail photos, so we headed away from the light pollution of the city, out towards Dayboro. This was my first attempt at taking a photo of star trails. There are a couple of ways you can do this. The first is to leave your shutter open for one very long exposure (e.g. an hour or two). The second method, which is the one I tried, involves taking a series of shorter exposures and stacking them on top of one another. The photos were taken over the period of about an hour. You’ll notice there are gaps in the trails – this is a result of clouds that kept covering the stars.
I noticed the moon was quite nice tonight, so I walked up to the park (avoiding the ninjas, of course) and took a couple of photos.
